My decades of study into integrative medicine began when my mother was sent home from the hospital at the young age of 51 with the prognosis; “there’s nothing more we can do”. I knew then, at age 25, that I would spend the rest of my life exploring health, medicine, our bodies and the miracle of life.
Western (allopathic) medicine, in my opinion, had failed my mother. The only options offered to her were drugs and surgery, both of which had contributed to her demise.
My learning began with an exploration into Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ayurveda and Shiatsu – healing systems that are over 2,000 years old. With that long,
successful tradition, I figured the practitioners must know something we didn’t know in our allopathic model. I learned there was an entirely different way of assessing health through nutrition, meridians, emotions and models of science beyond Newtonian physics.
While treating patients with Chiropractic care, I also studied kinesiology and the work of Dr. George Goodhart. He was the innovator of Applied Kinesiology which links muscle dysfunction to diseased organs and recognizes there is a constant communication between hundreds of muscles and the rest of the body. His model of Applied Kinesiology addressed the patient’s health on 3 levels: the physical, emotional and nutritional perspective, a more holistic perspective than our allopathic medical system.
After becoming certified in Applied Kinesiology and using that work diagnostically to treat my chiropractic patients, I learned of the work of Deitrich Klinghardt, MD, Ph.d Klinghardt developed a system called the “5 levels of health and healing.” This model incorporated not only the 3 level treatments I was already applying to treatment, but expanded it two more levels: intuitive and spirit.
In my studies with Dr. Klinghardt I learned to treat patients with lyme disease, heavy metal toxicity, autism and other chronic diseases that western medicine was not effectively addressing could not effectively address.
THE FORMATION OF MKS
When I met local dentist, Dr. Jeff Oras, DMD I found a practitioner who understood the connection between the teeth and the systemic link to the rest of the body. Dr. Oras was the only dentist in my region who used this body of knowledge in his practice.
When Dr. Oras and I mutually treated patients, we began to achieve more significant results combining our various modalities and knowledge.
My first experience with family constellation systems was with Dr. Klinghardt. I observed the dramatic impact it had on healing at the highest level. I soon discovered Douglas Economy, a holistic psychotherapist in NJ, who had deep training in family constellation systems and offered this critical therapy to our patients in our integrated health team. Having both trained and been treated in NET (neuro-emotional technique) I was well aware of its usefulness in treating the 3rd level (emotional imbalance) and was pleased to have Dr. Nancy Erb,LCSW join our team.
Together, our work is known as MKS (Multiple Kinetic Systems). The name derives from the knowledge that quantum physics represents our bodies as a dynamic system constantly in motion, moving either towards health or towards disease. The 5 levels in our collective treatments tunes the entire kinetic system toward a greater level of health on all 5 levels.
OUR MODEL OF PATIENT CARE
Our patients have many of the benefits my mother never did. Our collective MKS team works with our patient’s medical doctors integrating the 5 levels and weaving together an integrated care plan that addresses more than symptoms, often getting to the root cause of issues. These treatments are completely non-invasive with no side effects. Not only do patient’s symptoms disappear but they enjoy a greater quality of life on all levels.
I believe my mother would be alive today if this comprehensive, holistic and integrated health care had been available to her. Although I was not able to help my mom, I am committed to spending the rest of my life helping others that may have been given a similar diagnosis.
